Rub-a-dub-dub

...there's 'choke' dogs in tubs! So many clean dogs (big and small) out shopping and strolling the Tail Waggin' event and doggie wash yesterday. The folks from the Hawaiian Humane Society were busy lathering, scrubbing and rinsing. It was a furry suds fest!

There was plenty to do there for dogs, like eat free treats, sniff other just bathed dogs and watch friends do tricks. Much 'mahalo' (thank you) Pet Corner for the pet trick contest...wow lau lau, (first time ever) I saw with my own sock eyes, a dog go to sleep after his human said 'bang, bang'. Most clever!

So 'hana hou', kind folks! It's donation jar time again! Look for me with my jar, (and that anthurium) at pet events from now till the Pet Walk,...small (or big kine!) donations are 'choke' appreciated. Everything that goes in my jar, will help shelter animal friends at the Hawaiian Humane Society.
Now if you prefer high tech kine', I have something for you big hearted folks who like computers...(online donating!).
Here is my donation page: firstgiving.com/fundraiser/ahi-dog/petwalk2011

A big sock dog 'mahalo' everyone and to my friends at the Tail Waggin' event for making my Pet Walk team 'Go Ahi' official! Always 'shaka', Ahi

This is Dog Island

AKA Magic Island the rest of the year, but just for today because it's time for a Pet Walk!
Rise and shine everyone, once a year we all get together and turn this beach park into a furry friend festival...'choke' dogs as far as my sock eyes could see! My chihuahua lady friend Hana joined me for the walk and food and treats,...and did I mention games?
The nice gals at the chihuahua booth let Hana come in first so she could win a treat. How 'aloha' of them! (Peanut you're king!)
My favorite part of today is when I'm 'pau' (finished) walking, cause then it's time for a dip in the pool and eating. The nice folks at the Humane Society had the pools out for us and passed out Bbq chicken with fried rice plates (and ice teas too)! Most refreshing. I have to say though, (did our car move?) because the walk back seemed much longer. Thanks to friends, Hana and I got a lift! 'Shaka's', Ahi.

Lunch Time is Here

I love you chicken katsu! Here I am at my favorite spot by the pier where I can watch the fishermen and boats, (but no 'Deadliest Catch' kine here) we're in the Pacific Ocean which means 'choke fish' like Ahi ('Tuna', that's me), Aku, Opah, and Mahi Mahi are the catch of the day.
I was glad to have dachshund friends 'Salt + Peppah' join me. They know their seasonings and except for a small kine shake from Peppah, all was good in the katsu and mac salad world. 'Shaka's' Salt + Peppah!
To top off my favorite grinds...chilled, sweet, juicy pineapple, yum! (That's me propped up on the table after the pineapple.) It's good to be Ahi Dog! So thanks for hanging 'shaka's' with me before I head out with my donation jar to the Aiea side. Next stop, Crazy Canine! Always, Ahi

'Pau Hana' Sunday

Philanthropy at Petco's Adoption Weekend this time,...(i'm hungry again)! 'Choke' dogs and their people come in to sniff out treats and test the toys. A couple of doggies pee-peed in the aisles. Now this is not something I'd recommend doing when out shopping, but all is good because there is no shortage of paper towels and disinfectant at Petco. Most convenient!
I was glad to make new shelter doggie friends with Hershey (oh boy, sweets!) and (what a ham!) Bandit. I'm sure they will find homes soon because of their 'choke' adorableness.
A big sock dog 'mahalo' (thank you) to everyone who stopped by my table and put money into the jar! Next stop, chicken katsu! 'Always Shaka', Ahi.

Philanthropy at The Pet Spot

Wow, I'll say it again...'philanthropy' that is a big word! It's what I'll be doing at The Pet Spot in Honolulu until fire cracker weekend (4th of July). So come on down and hang 'shaka's' with me. I'll be there with my donation jar, and everything that goes in it will go to helping shelter animal friends.
Here I am with chicken katsu on my mind before heading off to do my philanthropy...Always 'shaka', Ahi

Weiner Races Today

Too bad I missed it. ('Auwe'!) Note to sockdog self: the weekends are not for sleeping in. I did get to hang loose with some dachshund lady friends though, like Godiva and Ellie (I'm sure they noticed my new shorts), and visit with the hot doggies who ran in the races. I don't know who the fastest weiner doggie was today, but if anyone out there does, I sure would appreciate if you could drop me a line. 'Big shaka's'!

Alot of my dog friends and their people (even a piggie on a leash) were out today and there were 'choke' things to see and do. One of my favorites was the pools the Hawaiian Humane Society put out for us. Nothing like getting your paws wet on a hot hawaiian day.
Have a 'shaka' Memorial Day weekend all!

Supporting Friends

Doing my part to help shelter animal friends makes being a sockdog 'choke' rewarding! Here I am with my donation jar at The Pet Spot Honolulu. (That anthurium is following me.) Did you know that when I'm 'pau' (finish) surfing, Pet Spot is just across the street? Most convenient for getting doggie grinds.
The kind hearts of Friends For Life and volunteers were there too, so I was happy to help my animal friends through the donations collected in my jar.
Did I just talk about food?! Okay, gotta go now as I realize I'm hungry. Thanks for hanging 'shaka's' with me and a big mahalo to the nice folks who donated! Ahi

This is Magic Island

Aloha everyone! This place is true to its name. The sun was out in full force, good surf for hot dogging and so many coconut trees for me to mark.
You're never alone here especially in the afternoon time ('pau hana'), that's when alot of Honolulu folks come down to stretch their legs after work. I wouldn't know about this because 'work', what is that?
I must say though, that I do look cute sitting next to the anthurium. That's Diamond Head in the background and some 'shaka' canoe paddlers to my right...wait, your right, my left.
Okay, spock you later! Always 'shaka', Ahi.
